North Dakota Appaloosa Horse Club Rules

Membership and Dues

 

  1. Any person is eligible to become a member except those in bad standing with the Appaloosa Horse Club.
  2. Membership dues are $15 single and $20 per family membership (includes youth through age 18) annually. Due on January 1. Membership is non-transferable. Points earned prior to payment of membership dues will not be counted toward year end awards.
  3. The owner(s) on the registration papers must be members of the NDApHC in order for the points to be kept on the horse.
  4. A horse and/or exhibitor must compete in at least 4 shows, including a NDApHC sponsored show, to qualify for year-end awards.
  5. Each member has one vote in the election of directors at the annual meeting. The directors shall elect officers.

 

Meetings and Elections

 

  1. Members abusing or misusing their privileges of membership shall have their membership revoked by the Board of Directors.
  2. The annual meeting of the members of the club shall be at a place the Board of Directors designate and shall be held in conjunction with the awarding of the year-end high point awards.
  3. The board of directors consists of at least 5 but not more than 7 directors. At the annual meeting, elections shall be held for directors whose terms have expired (excluding the secretary/treasurer). The length of the terms shall be three years. At this time other business matters concerning the membership will be transacted.
  4. Notice of the annual meeting shall be given to the membership not less than 30 days prior to the meeting date.
  5. The Appaloosa Horse Club rulebook will serve as the official rulebook.
  6. All shows held within the state that meet the clubÕs requirements will be approved for points. Out of state shows may be approved for points upon a vote of the membership.
  7. Points earned prior to payment of membership dues will not be counted toward year-end awards. The year-end point system is as follows:

The class winner will receive one (1) point for each horse shown in the class with a maximum of nine (9) points awarded. Each subsequent placing will receive one less point down to the last horse placed. Grand champions will receive one more point than any other horse in its sex division. Reserve champion will receive as many points as any other horse in its sex division with the exception of the grand champion.

  1. Year-end high point awards will be given for classes held in NDApHC sponsored shows plus the following categories:

ND Born & Bred Junior All Around Horse
Overall Open High Point Performance Horse
Non-Pro High Point
Non-Pro Reserve High Point
High Point Youth Overall
High Point Youth 14 – 18
Reserve High Point Youth 14 – 18
High Point Youth 13 & under
Reserve High Point Youth 13 & under
High Point Youth Walk – Trot
Reserve High Point Youth Walk – Trot
Leadline Participation Awards

  1. Non-pro and youth riders are allowed to use more than one horse; the points will be tabulated on the exhibitor.
  2. The traveling trophy and a plaque will be awarded each year to the high point all around horse. The traveling trophy is to be returned each year, but the plaque is kept by the awardee. The traveling trophy will be retired in the event the same horse wins three consecutive years.
  3. A Friend of the NDApHC award will be given at the suggestion of the Board of Directors. The award will recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the club or the Appaloosa breed.
  4. A written and signed protest to the club secretary shall be accompanied by a $5.00 fee. This fee will be returned if the protest is upheld by the board of directors.
  5. The advertising rates for the newsletter shall be:

Half to a full page:       $15
Less than a half page:  $10
